Cricut - Flannel Blankets

Update - I posted this on a couple of cricut forums and someone made this comment:
"I’ve read that a lot of people recommend to use flocked or glitter htv. Something about the regular htv shows the “fuzzy” texture too much through it and it wrinkles. "

I started with the popular red truck graphic.  I ungrouped it, removed the tree, and then chose attach, to make it all one color.  To add the name underneath, I went to my cheat sheet of favorite fonts and chose Dk Jambo. Then I selected all and flipped it horizontally.

I measured the corner of the blanket and decided to resize the image to about 5x3.

For my first one, I used the silicone pad under the blanket, and parchment paper on top.  I had my iron between wool and cotton.  That's a little too warm - I moved it back to before the wool setting for the rest.  

And still, every one, when I pulled back the plastic looked like this:

I put parchment paper over the top, and pressed for about 5 seconds at a time, until they smoothed out.  Normally I press 10 seconds at a time, but I was being very cautious with these.

The blankets were $2.99 at Kmart.

I made these for my daughter in laws, along with pillows, this Christmas.  I'd like to make more, but I'm just not certain how well they are going to hold up.  The vinyl just does not seem to go on these as well as it does on other fabrics.  But it does seem secure..  I just don't know.  They do look nice.

The First Week-end of June 2017

When I asked Dan what he wanted to do this week-end, he replied "everything", as if he hadn't been married to me for 25 years and had no idea what he would be in for.  LOL!  We SHOULD have stayed home and worked on 5 gazillion farm projects, but we decided the work could wait until Monday - we burn out if we spend too much time not making nearly enough progress on the farm, so we stretch our work days out more this year.  With all this rain, there's only so much we can do anyway. I used the Egg file.  Tip - to see thumbnails of your svg files, use this extension . Create a 5.58x7 rectangle in Design space. Upload the Bunny PNG File Add your text.  Change your text to Print. Select all, choose Center horizontally If you have already added the circle (1.46 in diameter) hide it. Select all, Flatten. Add a 1.46 inch in diameter circle, right over the nose. How To Add A Favorite Point To A Cache You've Already Logged

This week-end we logged a lot of our finds "in the field", or quickly at Tim Horton's the next morning when we had cell signal.  We agreed that in the future, when caching in an area with no signal, we will log all of our finds as drafts and I'll edit and publish them when we get home.  But that's a live and learn moment, and we did not do that on this trip. We often forgot to hit the favorite button on our favorite caches.  I thought I was going to have to go back and rewrite the logs for all of the caches we wanted to give favorites to, and then I clicked the arrow beside the favorites tab on a cache, and saw I could just choose "add favorite" from the drop down menu. YAY!  Quick and easy! A larger view, for those who need it.  Just click on the arrow beside the Favorites at the top.
