How to Make a Chalkboard Graphic


I'm going to assume you already have a basic knowledge of some sort of graphics program.  Gimp is free.  I use Paint Shop Pro - because I have used it for many years, and I lack the attention span (& budget!) to keep up with photoshop.

(most of my favorites are on her list, so I didn't see any sense in replicating it. Plus, she did it better than I would have.)

I personally recommend going to Dafont and downloading just about everything ever created by Kimberly Geiswein.  I can't believe all of these gorgeous fonts are free.

Some of my favorites:

Installing new fonts is super easy.  In most cases, you can unzip them, open 
Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Fonts 
or in your windows start menu, search "fonts"
Then copy the fonts and paste them in the font folder
If you have a graphics program open, you'll probably have to close it and restart it for the new fonts to appear.

Then, The Dingbats:
All those banners & frames?  Even mustaches and animals, or cars, or whatever... they can be found in dingbat fonts.
I'd start with:

KG Flavor & Frames
That will give you all sorts of banners and buntings to work with

But the options are pretty endless.  Use google and search for things like "snowman dingbat font", etc.  KG has several varieties of frames. I've downloaded them all.

Those who are pretty serious about this stuff use software to organize their fonts, or they print them into a binder. Me? I google the dingbat font I'm using to remember which letter/number = which graphic.  Probably not the best way, but it really is the easiest.  :-)

When I asked Dan what he wanted to do this week-end, he replied "everything", as if he hadn't been married to me for 25 years and had no idea what he would be in for.  LOL!  We SHOULD have stayed home and worked on 5 gazillion farm projects, but we decided the work could wait until Monday - we burn out if we spend too much time not making nearly enough progress on the farm, so we stretch our work days out more this year.  With all this rain, there's only so much we can do anyway. Print Then Cut EOS Easter Cards

The Cliff Notes: Design is from :  http://caluyadesign.com/free-bunny-faces-svg.html Hole for EOS is 1.46 Font is A Little Sunshine First, download the free files from http://caluyadesign.com/free-bunny-faces-svg.html Normally you want the svg files, but it's faster to use the PNG files for this project, since it is print then cut. I used the Egg file.  Tip - to see thumbnails of your svg files, use this extension . Create a 5.58x7 rectangle in Design space. Upload the Bunny PNG File Add your text.  Change your text to Print. Select all, choose Center horizontally If you have already added the circle (1.46 in diameter) hide it. Select all, Flatten. Add a 1.46 inch in diameter circle, right over the nose. (You can set the size in the toolbar across the top, beside "flip".  Just type the size into the box) Select All, Attach.  (That will keep the circle in the right spot when it cuts) Choose Make it, send to your printer. How To Add A Favorite Point To A Cache You've Already Logged

This week-end we logged a lot of our finds "in the field", or quickly at Tim Horton's the next morning when we had cell signal.  We agreed that in the future, when caching in an area with no signal, we will log all of our finds as drafts and I'll edit and publish them when we get home.  But that's a live and learn moment, and we did not do that on this trip. We often forgot to hit the favorite button on our favorite caches.  I thought I was going to have to go back and rewrite the logs for all of the caches we wanted to give favorites to, and then I clicked the arrow beside the favorites tab on a cache, and saw I could just choose "add favorite" from the drop down menu. YAY!  Quick and easy! A larger view, for those who need it.  Just click on the arrow beside the Favorites at the top.
